FAQs

Q: How far in advance do we need to book our wedding cake?

Its never too early to secure your date. My diary is open 2 years in advance for wedding cakes to make sure you get your chosen date. I take on a limited amount of wedding cakes per week so dates can become booked up quickly. The summer months can be very busy so book early to avoid disappointment. A £150 non refundable booking fee will secure your chosen date (this fee will be deducted from the final price of your cake)

Q: Do we need to know our design and flavours when we reserve our date?

No. Many couples like to reserve their date up to 2 years in advance just to know their date is secured. We'll arrange your design consultation for around 4-6 months before your wedding date. By this time you will know your colours, fowers etc and you will have a better idea of what you would like. I will have your cake tasting box ready for you at your consultation to help you choose flavours.

Q: How much will our wedding cake cost?

The price of your wedding cake will depend on a number of factors such as size, number of tiers and level of decoration. All of my cakes are hand crafted and designed carefully around each individual couple so it's difficult to give an exact cost however most of my couples spend an average of £600-£700 for their bespoke cake.

Q: Can we have a diferent flavour for each tier?

Absolutely! I recommend it.

Q: When is the final balance due?

The balance invoice will be sent 6 weeks before your wedding date with the balance due no later that 1 month before your wedding date. Please refer to my Terms & Conditions with regards to cancellations and postponements.

Q: Do you deliver our wedding cake to our venue?

Yes. I personally deliver and set up your cake at your venue on the day of the wedding. I deliver to venues all over Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and farther! The delivery charge is an additional cost that is calculated based on distance to your venue. Please get in touch for a quote.

Q: Do we need a cake stand?

I highly recommend having a cake stand. I feel it's the 'icing on the cake' and will complete the whole look of your cake design. Your venue may have a cake stand available to use, but I do hire out modern cake stands, log bases and decorative frames that will make your cake look that extra bit special. Hire cost is £25 with a £75 fully refundable deposit that will be returned to you upon return of the stand.

I also encourage couples to think about their cake setting. Dressing your cake table with decorative items such as drapes, flowers or candles can make your cake look even more amazing.

Q: Do you make Gluten free cakes?

Unfortunately I cannot cater for allergies at this time. I can replace ingredients with 'free from' ingredients but as I work from one kitchen I cannot gurantee that my cakes will be 100% free from.

Q: Do you make Vegan cakes?

No, unfortunately I do not offer these type of cakes.

Q: Can we have fresh flowers on our cake?

Yes you can, however i highly recommend sugar flowers as they are food safe and won't wilt on the cake. If you do not have the budget for sugar flowers and would prefer to have fresh flowers then these are usually arranged through your florist. I will liaise with your florist so that I can arrange a time to meet them at your venue on the day and make your fresh flowers cake safe before arranging on your cake. Flowers need to be none toxic and safe to place on food. Please check with your florist and let me know what flowers you will be using. I will not decorate your cake with toxic flowers such as gypsophila, hydrangeas and lillies. I charge a fee of £20 for making your fresh flowers cake safe and arranging on the day.

Q: How do we store leftover cake?

Leftover cake can be stored in a sealed container at room temperature. I recommend that your cake should be consumed within 3 days of your wedding. All of my cakes are baked fresh for your weddding so any leftovers can be frozen for up to 3 months.
